What’s New with the SIG PACK Automatic Carton Packer
The Signature SIG PACK Automatic Carton Packer extends production beyond the folder gluer by counting and packing finished cartons. Manufacturers can better keep pace with folder gluer output by reducing the manual handling required during the carton packing process.
The latest SIG PACK design builds on that capability with a smaller footprint and additional updates focused on setup, safety and ease of operation while maintaining the same reliable output.
Smaller SIG PACK Footprint, Same High-Speed Output
Floor space is valuable in any production environment. The redesigned SIG PACK offers a smaller overall footprint without sacrificing output, making it easier to incorporate automated carton packing into a production line.
Capable of speeds up to 160,000 straight-line cartons per hour, the SIG PACK can be integrated with Signature Folder Gluers as well as most existing folder gluer brands.
Auto Jog Simplifies SIG PACK Setup
One of the key updates to the latest SIG PACK is Auto Jog, which is now a standard feature.
Rather than manually positioning the machine for a new job, the operator enters the carton dimensions through the computer interface. The SIG PACK then automatically adjusts itself to the required positions.
For manufacturers running a variety of carton sizes and job types, this feature can help simplify setup and make changeovers more efficient.
Operator-Focused Updates Improve Safety and Ease of Use
The latest design also incorporates expanded safety guarding across the upper portion of the machine, including additional guarding around the shooter arm area, along with an updated operator interface.
The redesigned interface provides a more user-friendly way for operators to access machine functions, enter job information and make adjustments. Combined with Auto Jog, these updates are designed to make setup and day-to-day operation more intuitive while enhancing operator safety.
Motorized Shooter Arm Upgrade for Existing SIG-PACKs
While Auto Jog is a standard feature of the latest SIG PACK design, owners of earlier SIG PACK models also have an option for improving the adjustment process through a motorized shooter arm upgrade.
This enhancement adds a motor and updated programming that allows the operator to reposition the shooter arm using a button on the control panel saving valuable time during changeovers. Adjustments can also be made without initiating a total machine shutdown.
The motorized shooter arm upgrade is not an auto-setup feature. The operator controls the movement of the shooter arm, making this different from the Auto Jog technology available on new SIG PACKs.
The upgrade is primarily safety-driven but can also simplify adjustments, particularly for operations with frequent changeovers. Installation is performed by an AIM technician and can generally be completed in approximately one day.
Extend Automation Beyond the Folder Gluer
Whether incorporated into a new production line or paired with existing folder gluer equipment, the SIG PACK provides an opportunity to automate a labor-intensive part of the folding carton production process.
With a smaller footprint, standard Auto Jog, additional safety guarding and an updated operator interface, the latest SIG PACK combines the same high-output carton packing capabilities with improvements designed to make the overall packing process easier for operators.
For existing SIG PACK owners, the motorized shooter arm upgrade provides another way to improve operator safety and simplify a routine adjustment without replacing the existing packer.
For manufacturers looking to add automation in other areas of the line, Signature also offers ancillary equipment for prefeeding and print inspection. Together, these systems can help reduce manual handling and add automation before, during and after the folding and gluing process.
